U.S. President Barack Obama honors educators in the fields of math and science on Wednesday, at a special awards ceremony designed to promote math and science education.Mr. Obama will recognize the achievements of more than 80 teachers who have been awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.The award is the highest recognition for outstanding teaching in those subjects in the United States.
The teachers also receive $10,000 from the U.S. National Science Foundation.Twenty other educators known as mentors (counselors or guides) are being recognized with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring.
