Former Liberian president Charles Taylor has boycotted his war crimes trial for a second straight day, prompting judges to adjourn the case until Friday.

Both Mr. Taylor and attorney Courtenay Griffiths failed to appear before the Special Court for Sierra Leone Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, Griffiths accused judges of putting their egos ahead of justice and carrying out a "personalized attack" on both of them.

The lawyer and his client boycotted much of the proceedings on Tuesday, after judges rejected a summary of the defense's case because it was filed 20 days late.

Griffiths said it would be "illegitimate" for the defense to go along with the proceedings unless the issue is resolved.

The former president is facing 11 charges that include murder, torture, and using child soldiers. He has pleaded not guilty.
