U.S. Senator John Kerry is in Islamabad where he is expected to press Pakistan's leaders to explain how al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden could live for years undetected in a city not far from the capital.Shortly after arriving in the Pakistani capital late Sunday, Kerry met with the powerful army chief, General Ashfaq Kayani and, according to media reports, provided him with a list of U.S. demands regarding the fight against terrorism.

Pakistani military officials said Monday that General Kayani told Kerry that his soldiers have "intense feelings" concerning the May 2 raid by special U.S. forces that killed bin Laden. Kerry, who heads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is the most senior U.S. official to visit Pakistan since the raid. He is meeting Monday with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to discuss the state of relations between the two countries in the wake of the raid.
