[00:13.36]The 28-year-old suspect was identified as Ahmad Khan Rahami, [00:22.88]a naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan. [00:27.96]News video showed Rahami being placed into an ambulance Monday [00:35.00]in the New Jersey town of Linden, about 32 kilometers from New York City. [00:44.40]The suspect's arm was bloody and bandaged [00:48.28]and officials said he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the leg. [00:56.68]Local officials said two police officers were also injured during the operation. [01:05.60]The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Rahami [01:11.20]was wanted for questioning in an explosion Saturday evening [01:16.32]in the Chelsea area of New York City that wounded 29 people. [01:23.96]The explosion went off in or near a trash container in a busy area of the neighborhood. [01:32.88]The blast sent glass and debris flying into the air. [01:38.08]All 29 people wounded were treated and released from the hospital. [01:45.88]New York Governor Andrew Cuomo described the Chelsea bombing [01:52.40]as "obviously an act of terrorism." [01:56.76]Rahami is also a suspect in another bombing that happened hours earlier [02:03.76]in Seaside Park, New Jersey, about 135 kilometers south of New York City. [02:14.04]Police said a pipe bomb exploded before the start of a charity race to help U.S. Marines. [02:21.92]No one was wounded. [02:25.68]The FBI and New York police have also been searching for possible links [02:32.12]between the Chelsea bombing and another explosive device [02:36.88]found a few blocks away that did not go off. [02:41.72]That bomb was recovered shortly after the first one exploded. [02:48.48]Police safely removed it from the area and set it off in a controlled explosion. [02:57.36]Also, five explosive devices were discovered Sunday [03:02.52]in a trash can at a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, just outside New York City. [03:11.56]One of the devices exploded while a bomb squad robot tried to disarm it, [03:18.08]but no one was hurt. [03:20.67]The bombings happened as leaders from around the world [03:25.84]were gathering in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly. [03:32.72]A U.N. spokesman told VOA that officials evaluate [03:37.84]the security needs each day inside the U.N. complex. [03:45.12]I'm Bryan Lynn.
