戒烟的人通常用食物来代替香烟。一项新的研究表明,增加的体重可能会在短期内增加患糖尿病的风险。
II型糖尿病在进食过多,运动过少,并且有家族病史的人中非常普遍。抽烟是另外一个风险因素。但是停止抽烟可能会有临时性的风险。
研究发现,停止吸烟的吸烟者在最初的流年患糖尿病的风险增加70%。这是与从来不抽烟的人做出的对比。
在最初的三年之内风险是最高的。停止吸烟十年之后,风险水平会恢复正常。
研究人员称,患糖尿病风险增加的原因可能是体重增加。但是他们表示,无论如何,一定要停止吸烟——最好根本不要开始抽烟。
II型糖尿病会妨碍人体对胰岛素的使用。胰岛素由胰腺分泌,正常情况下可以在进食过程中或进食过后降低血糖水平。如果时间比较久,高血糖会导致失明,肾功能障碍,心脏病和神经损坏。
该研究来自约翰·霍普金医科大学,发表在内科医学年鉴上。
另外一份研究称,肥胖已经同吸烟一样严重影响人们的生活质量。该研究对比了两者的质量调整生命年(QALYs)损失。研究发现,肥胖导致的损失与吸烟导致的损失几乎相同。
近年来,吸烟者的人数月来越少,但是肥胖的人数越来越多。该结果是通过政府电话调查询问与健康相关的生活质量问题。

另外一项研究发现,每天每看一小时的电视,死于心脏病的风险增加18%。这项对澳大利亚成年人进行的调查还发现其他原因导致死亡风险增大。这些研究结果发表在美国心脏协会期刊上。贝克IDI心脏病与糖尿病研究所首席作者David Dunstan表示,我们的身体构造是用于运动的。他说,即使我们拥有健康的体重,久坐不动也对血糖和血脂产生不健康的影响。

把这辆汽车与那辆汽车相比较,你就会发现它们之间的区别。
2)compare…to…意为“把……比作……”,着重注意两者间的相似点。
