Georgia says Russia has opened a second combat front in the country, sending armored vehicles beyond two breakaway territories to seize a Georgian military base inside Georgia.

Senaki lies about 40 kilometers south of Georgia's separatist republic of Abkhazia, near the Black Sea coast in western Georgia. Earlier today (Monday), Moscow issued an ultimatum demanding that 15-hundred Georgian troops stationed near Abkhazia either disarm or face attack. Georgia rejected the disarmament call, a day after Russian authorities said they were preparing to deploy nine thousand troops to Abkhazia.

Large-scale fighting erupted last week, when Russian forces invaded another Georgian breakaway territory, South Ossetia, in response to a Georgian military push against separatists in the territory.
