The United Nations is trying to get more needed medical supplies to cholera-stricken regions of Haiti, as the death toll continues to climb and Haitians stage violent protests blaming the U.N. for the disease outbreak.

Aid agencies are warning that the spreading unrest and clashes with authorities are preventing delivery of key supplies to hard-hit areas.

U.N. officials say 11 trucks filled with supplies are scheduled to make deliveries Friday, and two helicopter airlifts also are planned.

Violent unrest has spread to Port-au-Prince, where protesters threw rocks at peacekeepers Thursday and blocked roads with burning tires. Earlier this week three protesters died after clashes with U.N. troops.
