U.S. President Barack Obama is making a surprise trip to Afghanistan.

Mr. Obama landed unannounced at Bagram Air Base late Friday. He will meet American troops to personally thank them for their service and with top U.S. advisors in the region.

New agencies report, that bad weather will prevent Mr. Obama from meeting personally with Afghan President Hamid Karzai at the presidential palace in Kabul. The two will have a secure video conference.

News agencies report the President will spend several hours in the country.

This is Mr. Obama's second trip to Afghanistan as president and comes as the White House plans to release a review of the administration's war strategy announced last year when Mr. Obama ordered an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan.
