An Egyptian prosecutor has announced plans to transfer former President Hosni Mubarak from a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to a military medical facility.State-run media reports on Friday say Mr. Mubarak will later be moved from the hospital to prison, as his “health condition improves.”
The former president was hospitalized with heart problems on Tuesday. The incident took place while Mr. Mubarak was being questioned by authorities investigating him for alleged corruption and abuse of power.The following day, prosecutors announced that Mr. Mubarak and two sons would be detained for 15 days as part of the probe. His two sons, Alaa and Gamal, were taken to a prison on the outskirts of Cairo. Authorities did not specify which military hospital Mr. Mubarak would be moved to on Friday.
On Sunday, Mr. Mubarak said the allegations against him were unfounded. It was the first time he had commented publicly on the probe since mass protests forced his departure in February.
