白宫：奥巴马不会在内塔尼亚胡访美时与其会晤 White House: Obama Won't Meet Israeli PM on US Visit

以色列总理内塔尼亚胡本月访问纽约期间，美国总统奥巴马不会同他会晤。内塔尼亚胡将在纽约敦促联合国针对伊朗核项目采取更强硬的措施。

白宫说，奥巴马与内塔尼亚胡星期二晚间通了一小时电话，讨论伊朗核项目问题，并就防止伊朗获得核武器达成一致立场。

但白宫发表声明说，内塔尼亚胡没有要求在华盛顿会晤奥巴马。

一名白宫官员早些时候对美国之音说，奥巴马的这一决定不应被解释为拒绝会晤内塔尼亚胡。

美国国家安全委员会发言人威尔多说，奥巴马和内塔尼亚胡都定于本月晚些时候在纽约停留，但时间不同。

U.S. President Barack Obama will not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the Israeli leader visits New York this month to urge thatthe U.N. take tougher action against Iran's nuclear program.

The White House says the two leaders discussed Iran's nuclear program duringan hour-long telephone call Tuesday night, and are united in keeping Iranfrom obtaining a nuclear weapon.  

But a White House statement says there has been no request for Mr. Netanyahu to meet with Mr. Obama in Washington.

A White House official told VOA earlier that Mr. Obama's decision should not be interpreted as a refusal to meet the Israeli prime minister.

U.S. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said the two leaders are scheduled to be in New York later this month, but not at the same time.
