[00:04.16]Jimmy Kimmel tells jokes for a living. [00:07.84]He has a popular late-night television show called "Jimmy Kimmel Live." [00:15.00]He is known for his jokes, silly interviews and a friendly rivalry with actor Matt Damon. [00:23.52]Kimmel was also the host of this year's Academy Awards show, or Oscars. [00:31.44]Kimmel usually begins his late-night show by joking about celebrities, current events and politics. [00:41.16]But on Monday night, Kimmel started his show with a story about his newborn son, Billy. [00:49.79]Kimmel had not been on TV since his son was born last month. [00:56.32]He wanted to tell the audience why. [01:00.20]Billy was born with a serious heart problem. [01:04.84]The problem prevented his blood from receiving enough oxygen. [01:11.00]The baby needed a medical operation to repair a part of his heart. [01:17.08]He spent many days in the hospital. [01:21.24]But eventually, he came home. [01:25.24]Kimmel explained that his son will need another operation on his heart when he gets older. [01:32.52]But for now, he is OK. [01:36.28]Kimmel almost started crying more than once as he talked about seeing his son [01:43.20]in the hospital surrounded by medical equipment, doctors and nurses. [01:50.96]"It's a terrifying thing," Kimmel said, his voice cracking. [01:56.13]"I'm standing in the middle of a lot of very worried-looking people [02:02.04]who are trying to figure out what the problem is." [02:06.64]Kimmel also brought up the debate in the United States about health care. [02:12.36]He said the fact that some politicians proposed major cuts to health care funding [02:20.16]-- especially funding that goes to research hospitals -- "is so unbelievably sad." [02:27.76]During his campaign last year, President Donald Trump [02:32.72]promised to replace the Affordable Care Act. [02:36.76]That is the health care law put in place by the administration of former President Barack Obama. [02:45.20]Kimmel also said he saw a lot of worried parents [02:49.44]at the children's hospital where his son was treated. [02:53.80]"No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child's life. [03:01.20]It just shouldn't happen." [03:04.32]He asked the politicians who are meeting to discuss health care in Washington, D.C., [03:10.64]to "stop with the nonsense" and "take care of each other." [03:16.60]The crowd in the studio cheered. [03:20.96]People around the world reacted to the emotional video. [03:25.00]It became the top-ranked trending video on YouTube. [03:29.72]More than 2 million people have watched it so far. [03:34.56]Many people wrote comments on YouTube, [03:37.44]thanking Kimmel for telling his story.
