[00:16.08]The ministers are to discuss how their countries [00:19.92]can best support the deal following the withdrawal of the United States. [00:28.48]Iranian state media reported on Tuesday that Foreign Minister [00:33.80]Mohammad Javad Zarif will be in Vienna, Austria for the talks. [00:40.32]It said he will meet with the foreign ministers of Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany. [00:49.32]Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is also traveling to Switzerland and Austria this week [00:56.16]as part of efforts to try to save the nuclear agreement. [01:00.64]Rouhani has said he expects European countries to propose measures [01:05.84]in the coming days to keep the deal alive. [01:11.24]Under the agreement, Iran promised to limit its uranium enrichment activities [01:17.88]so that it could not create enough fuel for nuclear weapons. [01:23.48]In exchange, billions of dollars of seized Iranian money was released, [01:29.60]while many restrictions on the country were ended. [01:33.60]U.S. President Donald Trump announced in May [01:38.62]that the United States was withdrawing from the deal. [01:43.41]He described the agreement as "very badly negotiated." [01:49.68]But all the other signatories to the nuclear deal say they still support it. [01:56.14]They have expressed strong disappointment at the U.S. withdrawal. [02:03.64]On Monday, the Trump administration announced its plans [02:08.27]to re-establish strong sanctions on Iran's energy and banking industries. [02:15.44]"Our goal is to increase pressure on the Iranian regime [02:20.54]by reducing to zero its revenue on crude oil sales," [02:25.60]said Director of Policy Planning Brian Hook. [02:30.16]He added that U.S. officials are working to contain any problems [02:35.28]that may affect the international energy market. [02:39.92]During a press conference at the State Department, Hook called on Iran [02:47.32]to meet demands so it could be, what he termed, "normal country." [02:53.19]"Normal countries don't terrorize other nations... [02:58.13]and impoverish their own people," Hook said. [03:01.92]He added that the new U.S. policy is not about changing the Iranian government. [03:10.56]He noted the first part of U.S. sanctions will take effect in early August. [03:16.60]These measures will include targeting Iran's automobile industry, [03:23.04]trade and some metals, including gold. [03:27.12]He said the remaining U.S. sanctions will take effect in early November. [03:34.08]These sanctions will include targeting Iran's energy industry [03:38.66]and petroleum-related activities and activities involving the central bank of Iran. [03:47.28]The United States has warned other countries that they will also face sanctions [03:53.28]if they continue to trade with sanctioned areas of the Iranian economy. [03:59.28]Hook said U.S. officials are traveling around the world meeting with American allies [04:05.80]to try to persuade them to cooperate with the sanctions.
