[00:14.92]CBS announced the resignation of Leslie Moonves Sunday night. [00:21.56]The company said its chief operating officer, Joseph Ianniello, [00:28.24]will serve in the position until a permanent replacement is named. [00:34.35]The announcement came after The New Yorker magazine [00:40.60]reported on new sex abuse accusations from six women. [00:47.72]They accuse Moonves of abuses [00:50.73]including forcing them to take part in sexual acts. [00:55.96]They also said he acted to harm the careers of women [01:01.64]who rejected his reported sexual demands. [01:05.96]The women said the abuse happened in the 1980s and early 2000s. [01:13.84]CBS was already investigating Moonves [01:18.44]for similar accusations made by six other women. [01:24.68]Moonves had denied the earlier accusations. [01:29.44]Sunday, he again denied those and the more recent reports of abuse. [01:36.60]In a statement, he said the accusations were untrue [01:41.40]and not "consistent with who I am." [01:45.92]He added that he was "deeply saddened" to leave CBS. [01:52.64]In a statement to The New Yorker, Moonves said he had [01:57.20]consensual sexual relations with three of the women. [02:02.80]He said he had never used his position to hurt the careers of women. [02:10.12]One of the latest accusers, Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb, told The New Yorker [02:16.32]she reported her experiences with Moonves to Los Angeles police last year. [02:24.08]But no action was taken because a statute of limitations had passed. [02:31.04]She said Moonves, while working at a Hollywood production center [02:37.29]in the late 1980s, had forced her to perform a sex act. [02:43.03]Golden-Gottlieb said she repeatedly rejected other sexual demands from Moonves. [02:51.00]She accused him of limiting her progress in the industry, [02:56.17]telling the magazine "he absolutely ruined my career." [03:02.76]Moonves spent 23 years at CBS in several positions [03:08.20]and had served as CEO since 2006. [03:14.12]The company had continual growth under his leadership. [03:18.96]He became one of the highest paid and most powerful leaders in the industry. [03:26.24]The network's statement did not deal directly with the new accusations. [03:32.16]It said the company's financial settlement with Moonves [03:37.32]will be decided after the abuse investigation is finished. [03:42.96]The company also announced that Moonves would donate $20 million [03:49.28]to one or more organizations that support the #MeToo movement [03:55.04]and equality for women in the workplace. [04:00.24]The #MeToo movement began in October 2017, [04:05.49]shortly after several women accused American film producer [04:10.24]Harvey Weinstein of sexual abuse. [04:14.66]Since then, many women and some men have publicly accused [04:21.80]powerful people in business, government and entertainment [04:26.76]of sexual abuse or unwanted sexual behavior. [04:32.84]Many of the accused have either resigned [04:36.08]or been removed from their positions. [04:39.49]I'm Bryan Lynn. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
