[00:12.82]Bobbleheads are small figures with abnormally large heads. [00:18.78]The heads, which are on springs, move up and down. [00:23.98]The figures are usually made to look like famous people [00:28.31]-- from sports champions to actors to politicians. [00:34.01]The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum [00:38.58]recently opened in the city of Milwaukee. [00:42.50]Phil Sklar and Brad Novak started collecting bobbleheads 16 years ago. [00:49.37]Then, four years ago, the two friends [00:52.87]decided to do something with their collections. [00:56.58]They quit their jobs, began making their own bobbleheads [01:01.43]to earn money and searched for bobbleheads at second-hand shops. [01:07.00]Then, they decided on a physical place for a museum. [01:11.88]The two have more than 10,000 bobbleheads. [01:16.38]The museum has room to show about 6,500 at one time. [01:22.83]They have figures that look like characters [01:26.07]from the movies "Star Wars" and "The Wizard of Oz." [01:29.99]They have the first-ever football and baseball bobbleheads [01:34.98]from the early 1960s. [01:37.67]They even have a life-sized bobblehead in their collection. [01:43.39]And then there are the political bobbleheads. [01:46.84]One looks like American President Donald Trump [01:50.70]from his days as a television star on "The Apprentice." [01:55.69]The figure says "You're fired" with the push of a button. [02:01.23]Sklar and Novak are in the process of having their collection [02:05.83]recognized as the world's largest by the Guinness Book of World Records. [02:12.36]The current record is 2,396, held by Phil Darling. [02:19.88]The 40-year-old Canadian has gotten 500 more bobbleheads [02:25.63]since that official count in 2015, he says. [02:29.65]Darling says he will be a bit sad not to hold the record anymore. [02:36.23]But he says he hopes to one day make it to Milwaukee [02:40.96]to see the collection and meet Sklar and Novak. [02:45.45]"It's on my bucket list," Darling said. [02:48.96]Sklar said he hopes the museum will appeal to bobblehead fans [02:54.88]as well as "people looking for something fun to do." [02:59.09]Along with the collection itself, [03:01.96]the museum also explains how bobbleheads are made [03:05.83]and introduces the real people who the bobbleheads represent. [03:11.05]Sklar added, "There are so many negative things going on ... [03:15.86]we need more places to escape and have a good time [03:19.83]and also educate at the same time, [03:22.60]so hopefully we will be an asset to the community." [03:26.78]I'm Ashley Thompson. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
