[00:15.24]Harry and Meghan, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, [00:21.40]want to break free of their royal duties and move to Canada. [00:28.88]The two have received approval from Queen Elizabeth. [00:34.72]She said she and other family members regret the decision but understand and respect it. [00:45.24]Agreement on important details has yet to be reached, however, [00:50.92]and some difficult decisions need to be made. [00:55.36]Canada's leader also has raised questions. [00:59.56]But Boris Johnson told a BBC television (TV) reporter that the monarchy will be able to find solutions. [01:10.52]"My view on this is very straightforward: I am a ... fan, like most of our viewers, of the queen [01:20.32]and the royal family as a(n)...asset for our country," Johnson said. [01:27.08]The royal family held a crisis meeting Monday at the queen's Sandringham House property in eastern England. [01:37.60]Johnson said he believes they will be able to find agreement " [01:43.00]much more easily without a running commentary from politicians." [01:50.28]The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started the crisis when they released a statement last week. [01:57.92]They said they wanted to step back from most royal duties and become financially independent. [02:07.04]The two have decided to spend at least part of their time in Canada, [02:13.24]a Commonwealth country where the queen is head of state. [02:18.68]Meghan worked in Canada for seven years while filming the TV series "Suits." [02:27.48]The move angered some royals who had not been involved in the decision. [02:33.56]The Sandringham meeting brought together the 93-year-old queen, [02:39.52]her eldest son and heir Prince Charles, his son Prince William and his brother Prince Harry. [02:48.48]After the meeting, the Queen release a statement saying the family [02:54.60]will not try to stop Prince Harry and Meghan from seeking independence. [03:02.84]After it was clear they will live in Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau [03:09.72]said his country welcomes the news, but he has issues to discuss. [03:17.32]Among the issues are the high cost of providing day-to-day security for Harry, Meghan and their son, Archie. [03:28.80]"I think most Canadians are very supportive of having royals be here, but how that looks [03:37.52]and what kind of costs are involved, there are still lots of discussions to have," Trudeau told Canadian TV. [03:48.80]He added that so far there have been no official talks on the issue between the Canadian and British governments. [04:00.60]Britain's royal family is protected by a special team of officers [04:06.36]from London's Metropolitan Police, also known as Scotland Yard. [04:12.76]The cost of that protection is not made public. [04:18.92]In addition to security costs, it is likely that some special force of London police would have to operate in Canada. [04:30.68]Many financial questions remain. The queen says Harry and Meghan [04:37.00]do not plan to use public money when they step back from royal duties. [04:43.64]So it is possible they may be asked to pay for their security. [04:50.92]Harry and Meghan have said that one of their goals is to become financially independent. [04:58.96]It is not known if they will continue to receive money from Harry's father, Prince Charles, [05:07.52]who uses earnings from the Duchy of Cornwall estate to pay for many royal activities. [05:17.12]The estate earned more than $26 million last year. [05:24.52]Harry and Meghan have announced plans to launch a charitable organization in the coming year. [05:32.24]They just completed a six-week vacation in western Canada with their baby. [05:39.64]Meghan has returned to Canada after a short visit to London last week.
