[00:39.28]The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends cleaning all "high-touch" surfaces every day. [00:49.40]These include things we touch and come into contact will all day long, like phones, keyboards and computers. [00:59.28]But it is important to be careful. [01:02.52]If you do not clean your phone in the right way, it can get damaged. [01:08.32]Here are some things not to do when disinfecting your phone: [01:14.84]· Do not spray cleaners directly on the phone. [01:19.44]· Do not put the phone into any cleaning liquids. [01:23.88]· Do not use devices that use forced air, which are often used to clean computer keyboards [01:31.56]· Avoid rubbing your phone with rough materials that could make small cuts on it. [01:38.88]So, what should you do? [01:41.36]Start by turning off the phone and unplugging any wires. [01:46.96]You want to make sure your phone is not charging when you clean it. [01:53.52]Below are some suggested ways to clean your phone. [01:57.56]With any of these suggestions, be sure not to get the phone wet. [02:04.04]You can use Clorox wipes or wipes with 70 percent alcohol. [02:09.72]You can buy these products at a store and wipe down your phone. [02:16.16]iPhone manufacturer Apple has warned against using household cleaners on its phones, [02:23.16]and says that when using wipes, do so "gently." [02:29.12]AT&T recommends pushing out any liquid from disinfectant wipes before using them on a phone. [02:37.68]It says paper cloths work too. [02:41.24]You can spray them with disinfectant and then use the cloth to clean the phone. [02:48.24]Again, do not spray the phone itself. [02:52.56]You can also use a soft fabric to clean the phone. [02:57.76]Some examples are microfiber cleaning cloths or ones used to clean camera lenses and eyeglasses. [03:07.68]Google suggests cleaning your phone with a cloth that has been lightly covered in soap and water, [03:14.56]as long as you are careful not to get moisture in the phone.
