[00:12.16]The World Health Organization says most of those who are dying of the COVID-19 disease are over the age of 60. [00:23.36]But, try telling that to Ada Zanusso of Italy. [00:27.84]She is 103 years old. [00:30.88]She lived through the pandemic of 1918 that killed 50 million people worldwide. [00:39.08]Now, she has survived COVID-19. [00:43.44]"I'm well, I'm well," Zanusso told reporters with the Associated Press. [00:49.72]She spoke with the reporters over video from a home for older people in the northern Italian town of Lessona. [00:58.60]"I watch TV, read the newspapers," she added. [01:02.68]When asked about her fight against COVID-19, Zanusso simply said, "I had some fever." [01:11.20]COVID-19 can cause minor or moderate sickness. [01:16.36]Most of those who are infected recover. [01:19.68]But those with existing health problem and older people like Zanusso [01:25.48]are at a higher risk for more serious illness or even death. [01:31.20]Carla Furno Marchese has been Zanusso's family doctor for 35 years. [01:38.32]She said Zanusso was sick for one week. [01:42.44]"We hydrated her because she wasn't eating, and then we thought she wasn't going to make it [01:48.84]because she was always drowsy and not reacting," Furno Marchese said. [01:54.36]"One day she opened her eyes again and resumed doing what she used to before," the doctor added. [02:03.16]What helped her get through the illness? "Courage and strength, faith," Zanusso said. [02:11.28]Zanusso grew up in Treviso, Italy. [02:14.68]She worked there for many years in the cloth-making industry. [02:20.12]She had four children — three of whom are living. [02:24.60]She has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. [02:29.40]She will turn 104 on August 16. [02:35.04]Under Italy's lockdown order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, [02:40.12]visitors are not permitted to enter nursing homes, where many older people live. [02:46.04]Zanusso's doctor asked her what she would like to do when "they open the doors" again. [02:53.04]"I'd like to take a lovely walk," she answered. [02:56.72]She added that she looks forward to watching her three great-grandchildren play together again. [03:03.88]I'm Ashley Thompson. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
