[ti:Japanese Artist Makes Life-like Cardboard Sculptures] [by:www.51voa.com] [00:00.00]更多听力请访问51VOA.COM [00:00.04]Monami Ohno uses a little tool [00:03.72]to put very small pieces of hard paper, [00:07.24]or cardboard, on the legs of her sculpture. [00:11.80]The Japanese artist is creating a representation of Godzilla, [00:17.84]the huge and terrifying animal of the famed Japanese movie. [00:23.52]Ohno has used cardboard to create artwork for about ten years. [00:30.08]She says she first used the material [00:33.60]to make what she called a "bike-like thing" for a college project. [00:39.44]The 29-year-old makes many works of art based on popular culture, [00:45.88]like anime robots, warplanes and fast food. [00:51.32]Ohno recently described her first experience [00:54.60]with cardboard art to the Reuters news agency. [00:58.72]She used the term “folding,” or turning one part [01:03.44]of the cardboard over or against another part. [01:07.52]"When I first tried folding the paper, [01:10.68]gluing and putting them together, [01:13.20]the people around me praised me, saying things like [01:17.64]'Wow, you can make this,'" she said. [01:21.00]"That made me so happy that I have continued doing this until now." [01:27.04]Ohno's complex sculptures have since become popular, [01:31.04]with her work appearing at public showings in Japan and overseas. [01:37.40]Ohno does not use an exact plan when she makes her art. [01:41.96]She sketches her ideas on the cardboard first. [01:46.24]This provides general measurements of the design. [01:50.36]She can then cut and shape her sculpture. [01:53.72]In a room filled with her creations, including a Lego Batman artwork, [01:59.92]Ohno said, "I make the things I would really like to decorate my house with." [02:06.48]Ohno's press agent said the artist’s pieces are selling [02:10.64]for $900 to $13,000 a piece. [02:15.84]Ohno said she is not making an environmental statement with her art, [02:20.84]although it is made with used cardboard only. [02:25.64]However, she added, “it would be nice if people can see my work, [02:30.28]which is made out of cardboard and recycled materials rather than plastics, [02:35.76]and realize that there are these kinds of people who are involved in recycling."
