[00:13.40]Polish police published a video showing hundreds of migrants [00:19.20]– including families with young children [00:22.60]– camped just across the border in Belarus. [00:27.92]The migrants are mostly from the Middle East. [00:31.96]Poland says the migrants are being urged [00:36.28]to push their way into the country by the government of Belarus, [00:42.44]led by President Alexander Lukashenko. [00:47.64]The situation was reported to be calm on Tuesday. [00:52.68]But tensions were high along the border Monday, [00:57.48]when some of the migrants tried to break down a border fence. [01:03.20]Polish border guards blocked the migrants' entry into the EU. [01:09.88]Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki [01:15.04]wrote on Twitter that it was in Poland's interest [01:19.56]to keep the border closed. [01:22.76]He added that the actions urged by Belarus' government [01:28.20]threatened the "stability and security" of the whole EU. [01:35.24]Poland and other EU member states accuse Belarus [01:40.88]of urging illegal migrants from the Middle East, [01:44.88]Afghanistan and Africa to cross the border into the EU. [01:52.20]The critics say Belarus is doing so in answer [01:57.48]to sanctions placed on Belarus over human rights abuses. [02:04.24]Belarus, which is backed by Russia, denies the accusations. [02:10.68]On Tuesday, its defense ministry [02:14.24]called the accusations "unfounded." [02:17.84]And the country's foreign ministry warned Poland [02:22.92]"against the use of any provocations." [02:26.92]The European Commission (EC) accused Belarus [02:31.76]of illegally offering migrants easy entrance [02:35.92]into the EU through its territory. [02:39.64]An EC spokesperson said the Lukashenko government [02:45.20]was acting in an "inhuman" way. [02:48.64]"He is lying to people, he is misusing people, [02:53.32]misleading them, and bringing them to Belarus [02:57.96]under the false promise of having easy entry [03:01.88]into the EU," the spokesperson said. [03:06.20]The EU reacted Tuesday by strengthening visa rules [03:12.28]for Belarusian officials. [03:14.96]The move requires Belarusian government officials, [03:20.48]lawmakers and diplomats to provide extra documents [03:26.04]and pay more money for visas. [03:29.48]In the Polish police video published on Twitter, [03:33.92]tents and campfires can be seen in near-freezing temperatures. [03:40.28]An announcement warned the migrants that crossing the Polish border [03:46.04]is only permitted for visa holders at official border crossings. [03:52.72]Two United Nations refugee agencies – the UNHCR [03:59.32]and International Organization for Migration [04:03.32]– called the situation "alarming." [04:07.60]The agencies said they had been in contact with both the Polish [04:13.64]and Belarusian governments and urged them [04:18.08]to make sure the large group in the area [04:21.28]received humanitarian assistance. [04:25.08]For months, thousands of migrants [04:28.76]have sought to illegally enter Poland. [04:32.08]They have often ended up stuck in a forested area [04:36.84]between Belarusian and Polish forces. [04:41.52]I'm Bryan Lynn. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
