[ti:‘Don’t Get Caught Sleeping’ as Pillow Fighting Becoming Sport] [by:www.51voa.com] [00:00.00]更多听力请访问51VOA.COM [00:00.04]Pillow fighting is moving out of the bedroom and into the boxing ring. [00:05.56]The Pillow Fight Championship, or PFC, [00:09.24]plans to hold its first live, pay-to-watch event in Florida on January 29. [00:17.48]Steve Williams had the idea of turning a children’s game [00:21.72]into a professional fighting sport. [00:25.04]The head of PFC said professional pillow fighting [00:28.92]will have the excitement of hand-to-hand fighting [00:32.20]without the violence of mixed martial arts, or MMA, and boxing. [00:38.96]He said it is not a joke. [00:41.80]"It's not something where you sit there and laugh [00:45.12]and feathers are flying," Williams told Reuters. [00:48.52]"It's serious. It's hardcore swinging with specialized pillows." [00:55.20]The three-round fights will be available to view [00:57.96]on sports streaming station FITE. [01:01.84]The male and female athletes in January's event [01:05.56]come mostly from MMA and boxing. [01:09.64]But Williams said the athletes are not going to get injured. [01:15.12]"The fighters don't like to get hurt, [01:17.64]and there's a lot of people who don't want to see the blood. [01:21.08]They want to see good competition, [01:23.32]they just don't want to see the violence." [01:26.72]Since many people grew up pillow fighting with friends or relatives, [01:30.96]Williams hopes the new sport will be relatable [01:34.04]and can grow a large audience, including children. [01:38.60]"You can call it an alternative sport, [01:41.08]but we think it's going to have mainstream appeal," he said. [01:46.08]"Think about how they mixed country music with rap music [01:49.64]and brought these diverse audiences together. [01:52.76]That's what we're doing, [01:54.52]and we hope it brings in a different kind of viewer." [01:58.60]I’m Dan Novak. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
