[00:11.68]The company says the wearable computer device [00:15.08]can translate different languages in real time. [00:19.60]A working model, or prototype, of the yet-unnamed device [00:24.40]was presented to the public this week [00:27.08]during the yearly Google I/O developer conference. [00:32.20]Google did not say when the glasses might go on sale to the public. [00:37.88]The first Google Glass device included a wearable camera [00:41.92]that could film what the wearers saw. [00:45.40]That caused widespread privacy concerns. [00:49.12]The camera element also gave Google Glass [00:52.52]a kind of science-fiction look. [00:55.80]The latest device looks more similar to traditional glasses. [01:01.56]A brief demonstration of the new eyeglasses [01:04.56]described its translation ability, but did not provide additional details. [01:10.76]The company also did not say whether the new device [01:13.92]would be equipped with a camera. [01:16.88]A demonstration explained that a person wearing the glasses [01:20.60]who talks with someone who speaks a different language [01:23.60]can see the spoken words in their own language. [01:28.04]The description showed translations involving English, [01:31.76]Mandarin, Spanish and American Sign Language. [01:36.92]The new device was one of several products shared at the conference [01:41.20]that are currently in development. [01:44.76]The company said the products aim to better connect Google services [01:49.12]with activities happening in the real world. [01:52.72]This includes company offerings for searching and viewing maps, [01:57.32]as well as other services using the latest developments [02:01.96]in artificial intelligence (AI). [02:06.20]Eddie Chung, a director of product management at Google, [02:10.00]spoke to developers about the new eyeglasses. [02:14.44]"What we're working on is technology [02:17.04]that enables us to break down language barriers, [02:20.32]taking years of research in Google Translate [02:23.76]and bringing that to glasses," he said. [02:28.08]Chung said he thinks the product can provide "subtitles for the world." [02:34.64]Google also announced that a new tablet, [02:37.20]or small hand-held computer, would be released in 2023. [02:42.68]It is called Pixel Tablet. [02:45.48]And a new version of its Pixel Watch will go on sale later this year. [02:52.04]Selling more hardware like these devices [02:55.28]could help Google expand profits [02:58.00]beyond its advertising-based businesses. [03:02.52]Alphabet's worldwide market share in smartphones is small, [03:06.88]under one percent, technology researcher IDC estimates. [03:13.08]Currently, legal problems related to Google's dominance [03:17.40]in mobile phone software and other areas [03:20.64]threaten to limit the company's ability [03:23.52]to make progress with new products. [03:28.00]Google also presented some new software features to help with shopping. [03:34.44]One lets users take video of items in a store and then ask the search app [03:40.52]to identify those from Black-owned businesses. [03:43.92]Another accepts a photo of a product [03:47.76]and shows nearby stores where it is available. [03:52.12]Also later this year, Google Maps will begin showing a new view [03:56.72]for some big cities that mixes its Street View and aerial images. [04:02.32]The feature is designed "to create a rich, [04:06.28]digital model of the world," Google said. [04:10.48]I'm Jill Robbins. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
