[00:12.88]The record jackpot is worth $2.04 billion. [00:20.08]Lottery officials said the jackpot ticket [00:24.44]was sold at a business called Joe's Service Center [00:29.00]in Altadena, a community northeast of Los Angeles. [00:34.84]The latest drawing for the lottery winnings, [00:38.48]known as the jackpot, was held Tuesday morning. [00:43.24]That drawing had been delayed Monday night [00:47.56]because of a sales processing problem. [00:51.32]The lottery is called Powerball. [00:54.44]It is played by people in 45 U.S. states, [00:59.12]as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico [01:02.96]and the U.S. Virgin Islands. [01:05.64]The jackpot was estimated to be $1.9 billion on Monday. [01:13.04]But the prize was increased to $2.04 billion on Tuesday morning. [01:21.24]Tuesday's drawing followed one on Saturday [01:25.24]that was the 40th in a row without a winner of the big prize. [01:31.08]The jackpot grows larger each time it goes unclaimed. [01:36.96]A winning ticket must match all six numbers that are drawn. [01:42.28]The numbers in the latest drawing were 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and 10. [01:52.76]The current jackpot is more than $400 million [01:57.64]larger than past record jackpots. [02:01.40]Only four in the past have been larger than $1 billion, [02:06.80]but none of those were close to the current prize. [02:11.76]The current jackpot started at $20 million on August 6. [02:18.04]No one has won the jackpot since August 3. [02:22.56]The $2.04 billion prize is for a winner [02:28.12]who chooses to receive yearly payments over 29 years. [02:33.24]However, nearly all winners instead choose to be paid in cash, [02:39.80]which greatly lowers the amount. [02:42.44]Lottery officials did not immediately provide a value [02:47.28]for the one-time cash payment, [02:50.04]but it was likely to be around $1 billion. [02:55.16]The odds of winning the current jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. [03:04.20]The previous record for a Powerball jackpot was set in 2016 [03:11.04]when three ticket holders from California, Florida [03:15.84]and Tennessee shared a $1.59 billion top prize.
