[00:14.88]Cyclone Mocha brought winds measured [00:18.92]at nearly 200 kilometers an hour. [00:22.60]The storm tore the tops from homes [00:26.00]and created a storm surge that flooded the state capital of Sittwe. [00:33.16]Mocha was the most powerful storm to hit the area [00:38.40]since Cyclone Nargis in 2008. [00:44.36]Many people are feared dead, [00:46.88]but Reuters news service has been unable to confirm a number. [00:53.24]Nongovernmental groups say storm damage to communications [00:59.92]and transportation lines as well as continuing military restrictions [01:06.76]have delayed information and aid. [01:11.96]Early reports from Myanmar's state media [01:15.76]said a small number of people had died. [01:19.80]The website Myanmar Now claimed hundreds, [01:25.04]while aid groups said there were a "significant number of deaths." [01:33.08]Manny Maung of Human Rights Watch said, [01:37.44]"It's difficult to obtain accurate or up to date information." [01:44.80]Local leaders told the French news agency AFP [01:50.48]that 41 people had died [01:53.52]in the village of Bu Ma and hundreds were missing. [01:59.56]The cyclone also struck Bangladesh. [02:03.08]There, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said [02:07.16]more than 700,000 people had been moved to shelters. [02:13.16]But no deaths were reported. [02:17.32]Officials have credited early warning systems [02:21.72]and better preparation by local officials [02:25.80]for saving thousands of lives. [02:29.28]However, officials warn many people are still missing. [02:36.64]News reports say large numbers of people [02:40.56]were also evacuated in Myanmar. [02:44.40]Myanmar's state media said Tuesday [02:48.24]that military government chief Min Aung Hlaing [02:52.44]visited Sittwe to observe the damage and to donate money. [02:59.36]Rakhine State is home to a large population of Rohingya Muslims, [03:06.20]a minority group that has suffered [03:09.36]from what international groups call ethnic attacks by Myanmar's military. [03:17.76]Myanmar refuses to recognize the group [03:21.44]as citizens of the country saying they are Bangladeshis. [03:27.20]More than one million Rohingya refugees [03:31.16]are believed to live in camps in neighboring Bangladesh. [03:36.44]They fled Myanmar in large numbers [03:40.36]after the military took action against them in 2017. [03:48.16]I'm Mario Ritter Jr. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
